Monsey Fire Displaces Several Families
MONSEY, N. Y. -- Fire officials are investigating a Monday morning fire in Monsey that forced several families from their apartments and left one person injured, according to News 12 reported.Firefighters were called to the Walter Drive apartment building at around 10 a.m., Monday, after fire was found on one of the balconies. Peekskill Woman Accused Of Stealing From Macy's In Yorktown
YORKTOWN, N. Y. -- A 21-year-old Peekskill woman is facing a larceny charge after police investigated a shoplifting report at Macy's in Yorktown Saturday night.Franceskina Shllaku of Rolling Way was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny. She is free on bail and due back in Yorktown Justice Court on April 7, police said. Yorktown police were called to the store at around 7:38 p.m. Saturday on a report of a shoplifter in custody, police said. Police said she took $567.53 worth of clothing without paying for it.

Mahopac Father Found Guilty Of Two Charges In Altercation With Coach
CARMEL, N. Y. -- Carmel Town Justice Thomas J. Jacobellis found a 47-year-old Mahopac man guilty of mischief and harassment following an altercation with the Mahopac High School girls lacrosse coach after the man's daughter was cut from the varsity team, lohud.com reports.Alfonso DiFusco Jr. was acquitted of the misdemeanor assault charge stemming from the March 13 incident. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Red Cross is helping four families find temporary housing after a car fire severely damaged their multiple-unit building Sunday, according to News 12. Heroin Claims Another Casualty In Croton
CROTON, N. Y. -- News of the death Thursday of one of the two Croton roommates who overdosed on heroin has neighbors calling for more to be done to loosen the drug's grip, News 12 Westchester reports.The roommates overdosed in a house on Brook Street earlier this week. Residents Escape House Fire In Chestnut Ridge
CHESTNUT RIDGE, N. Y. -- Ramapo and Rockland County investigators are looking into a Chestnut Ridge house fire from which people living in the home escaped without injury Thursday night, police said. The residents got out of the house before police and fire arrived on the scene of the huge structure fire on Williams Road, police said.
