Alert Issued For New Eversource Scam Area police departments are warning Connecticut's Eversource customers of a new texting scam. It involves phone calls from a company claiming to be Eversource asking to download an app onto your computer or cell phone and wire money otherwise they will shut off your electricity within 30 minutes. Stony Brook University Gets Historic $25 Million Gift The 2019 Stony Brook Gala raised a record-breaking $28.2 million, which includes a $25 million gift from Marilyn Simons, to establish a new Center for Applied Economics and Public Policy at the University. An additional $3.2 million plus was raised for student scholarships. New Coffee Shop To Open In Former Starbucks Space In Stamford Good news for downtown Stamford. Winfield Street Coffee will open at Ferguson Library this summer where it will occupy the space where Starbucks used to be until it closed in 2018. Two Suspects At Large After Snow Blower Is Stolen From American Legion Hall In West Babylon Police are looking for two people who allegedly stole a snow blower from the American Legion hall in West Babylon in the dawn hours of April 6. Suffolk County Police are asking the public’s help to identify and locate the alleged suspects they say took the snowblower from a shed on the property at 10 Bruce St. at around 4:45 a.m. The two drove off in a pickup truck, according to police. Three Charged After Fight Breaks Out In Bridgeport Police had to break up a street fight that broke out in Bridgeport. During the incident at 665 E. Main St., an officer who was working a road job saw several people fighting on East Main Street across from Hamilton Street, according to the Bridgeport Police Department. Man Suffers Fractures To Face In Assault At Busy Intersection In Bridgeport A man suffered fractures to his face in an alleged assault at a busy intersection in Bridgeport. The male victim was assaulted with an unknown object at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 and sustained several fractures to his face and head, according to the City of Bridgeport Public Information Officer Terron Jones. Woman Accused Of Making Fraudulent Return At Rocky Point Kohl's The Suffolk County Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman seen on surveillance camera who is accused of trying to make a fraudulent return from a Rocky Point store in February. According to police, a woman went into Kohl's at 346 Route 25A, on Feb. 15, and allegedly returned a bracelet with a switched barcode from a lesser priced item. Man Accused Of Committing Lewd Act In Front of Child At Walmart In Middle Island A local man was arrested for allegedly committing a lewd act in front of a child at a Middle Island store, police said.
