Lakeland Partners With Alliance For Safe Kids To Stop Distracted Driving
SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- School buses in Yorktown now carry messages that take aim at stop distracted driving.Decals that say, "STOP TXTING U R DRIVING," have been placed on the back of 125 school buses in the Lakeland Central School District. The initiative is via a partnership between the district and the Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK). The community climbed aboard the idea instantly. Within 24 hours from the start of a Facebook fundraiser, money poured in to pay for the decals. The effort grew out of these grim statistics. Police Pursue Poughkeepsie Woman Wanted On Forgery Charge
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Millbrook-area woman is wanted by New York State Police in Poughkeepsie and Poughkeepsie Town Court following her arrest in July for allegedly stealing, cashing and forging checks from her former employer, according to police. Maddison B. Hartsfield, 20, was charged with first-degree forgery and first-degree possession of a forged instrument, according to police at Troop K barracks. BOGOTA, N.J. -- Students at a Catholic school in Bogota joined others to film a commercial at MetLife Stadium with New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in an effort to fight pediatric cancer .The students of St. Joseph Academy raised $3,000 for "Tackle Kids Cancer" with the school's student council and home school association. CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- A chariot race and "human" foosball highlighted the Thunderbird Games that drew members of the Bedford-Pound Ridge Cub Scouts Pack 170. EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Bambi, a Chihauahua who went missing Oct. 10 in Tuckahoe was seen Sunday night in Eastchester but is still missing. The seven-year-old, a spayed female, is the owner's "best friend" and the pair have hardly been separated in six years, she said. Bambi is a shy dog and likely to run away if she feels intimidated.
