Mahopac PTA Presents Public Program On Protecting Children
MAHOPAC, N. Y. -- Mahopac parents can get first-hand information on April 21 about how to protect their children from sexual abuse.Sponsored by the Mahopac Central School District PTA, the 6:30 p.m. program at Lakeview Elementary School features film clips and interviews with sex offenders to highlight what's been learned about the problem. It is presented by the Child Advocacy Center of Putnam County. The program focuses on why adults abuse children, and what can be done to keep kids safe. Bridgeport Police Investigate Inappropriate Incident At Waltersville School
BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- A school behavior therapist is on paid leave while Bridgeport Public Schools officials investigate an allegation of an inappropriate incident between the staff member and a 10-year-old student at Waltersville School, the CT Post is reporting.Schools Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz said police have a video of the incident that happened at the end of March, the CT Post says. Y. -- Workers on Monday started to take down two multi-family buildings in Yonkers destroyed by a four-alarm fire Sunday, as fire officials continue to investigate what caused the blaze that displaced several families, according to lohud.com. Police Charge Wilton Woman With Arson In Greenwich Fire
GREENWICH, Conn. -- A 33-year-old Wilton woman is facing a first-degree arson charge after police say she intentionally set a fire last year at a former boyfriend's Greenwich apartment from which she had to be rescued, according to Greenwich Time.Gina Clemente was charged with first-degree arson in the May 15 incident at 9 River Road. She's being held on $250,000 and due back in court April 18, Greenwich Time said. Police Accuse Danbury Man Of Sexual Assault Of A Child
DANBURY, Conn. -- A 41-year-old Danbury man is facing criminal sexual assault charges after Danbury police said he assaulted an 8-year-old girl, according to a News Times report. Garmano Vilela of Moss Avenue is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment in state Superior Court and was freed on $25,000 bond, the News Time says. Bridgeport Police Investigate Shooting That Injured 2 Men
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport police are investigating a shooting Sunday that left two Bridgeport men with injuries following what appears to be an argument during a drug deal, according to a CT Post report. Police said Brandon Thompson, 20, went with friends late Sunday to meet with Immanuel White, 22, along Iranistan Avenue to buy marijuana. After an argument, both men had been shot, CT Post says.
