Students At New Rochelle's Iona College Raise $55K With Relay For Life NEW ROCHELLE, N. Y. -- More than 450 people gathered in the Hynes Center at Iona College in New Rochelle for an all-night Relay for Life event April 9 that brought in more than $55,000 for the American Cancer Society.Iona students walked from 6 p.m.-4 a.m. to show that cancer never sleeps, organizers said. They also participated in events and games, along with a more somber luminaria event -- all to raise money to fight cancer. Danbury Police Say Drug Dealer Suspect Tries To Avoid Capture DANBURY, CONN. -- A 30-year-old Danbury man is facing drug and other charges following a foot chase this week with police in which he tried to hide cocaine, according to the CT Post.Edwin Rivera, who was already facing a warrant for his arrest on drug charges, is now also charged with interfering with an officer and possession of narcotics, the CT Post says. When he saw officers approach Monday, he took off on foot, police said. Orangeburg Road Bridge Work Forces Detour Of Trail Project, Too ORANGETOWN, N. J. -- Not only are motorists feeling the pinch from the Orangeburg Road bridge construction project, walkers and cyclists will notice it, too, according to lohud.com. The $14-million bridge project, which started in March, is closing two lanes on Orangeburg Road and also closing a portion of the walking and cycling trail underneath the bridge. Orangetown Police Arrest Man Driving Without License ORANGETOWN, N. Y. -- A 54-year-old New York City man is facing an unlicensed driving charge after Orangetown police stopped his car Thursday, April 14, in Tappan and discovered 22 active suspensions and revocations of his driving privileges, police said. Yorktown Police Arrest Croton Teen On Marijuana Possession Charge YORKTOWN, N. Y. -- A 16-year-old Croton-on-Hudson boy is facing a marijuana possession charge after police found him with the drug earlier this week at BOCES' Fox Meadow Campus in Yorktown, police said.The principal of the school called police Tuesday, April 12 to report that the unnamed boy had a small quantity of marijuana at school, police said. Police are not releasing the boy's name because of his age. The teen was arrested and processed at the scene, and released to the school, police said.
