Weather Keeps Balloons Grounded On First Night Of Hudson Valley Festival POUGHQUAG, N.Y. - Bad weather put a damper on the first day of the Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival Friday evening, as the weekend's first mass launch had to be scrubbed due to wind and rain. There were a lot of disappointed faces around Barton Orchards after it became apparent that the launches were not going to take place. Some people, those from the area, can come back to try to see a launch Saturday or Sunday. But some came from hours away to see the mass launch, and won't be able to make it back.
