Mahwah Farm Gives Back With Second Annual Hunger Project
MAHWAH, N.J. -- Secor Farms will have its second annual Hunger Project from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.The goal of the event's organizers is to pack 20,000 healthy meals to be distributed around northern New Jersey in just one hour. This year, there will be a sign-up sheet at both of its registers so Secor Farms can get an accurate count of how many volunteers it will have. MONROE, Conn. -- Masuk High School in Monroe has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The USED's Blue Ribbon School Program is an annual award bestowed on schools across the nation for high academic performance or greatest progress in achievement gap closure among subgroups. Rotary's Community Harvest Dinner Benefits Carmel HS Scholarships
CARMEL, N.Y. -- The Carmel Rotary Club will host Community Harvest Dinner at George's Place in Carmel on Friday, Oct. 30, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The dinner menu will include turkey, sausage and peppers or veggie wrap; and pumpkin pie will be served for dessert. Stamford-Based AmeriCares Sending Aid To Philippines After Typhoon Strikes
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford-based AmeriCares is preparing to deliver emergency medicines and relief supplies for families in the northern Philippines affected by this weekend’s typhoon. Typhoon Koppu, known locally as Typhoon Lando, made landfall early Sunday in Aurora Province with wind gusts up to 120 mph, tearing off roofs, downing trees and drenching the region in several inches of rain.
