Business Group's Report Calls Rockland's Tax Burden 'Unaffordable' ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A recent Rockland Business Association report takes a look at high taxes in Rockland County. "When the cost of compensation of many individuals in the public sector exceeds the median household income of the local taxpayers that pay those salaries, the tax burden can be particularly onerous and can become unaffordable and even unsustainable." Ossining Event Builds Shelters For Feral Cats OSSINING, N.Y. -- Winter shelters for feral cats in Westchester will be built Saturday, Oct. 15 when LIFELINE Cat Behavior Solutions in Briarcliff observe National Feral Cat Day.The goal is to construct 100 winter shelters. The build event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ryder Park pavilion. The shelter materials are paid for by donations. Every $50 raised funds one shelter. Fairfield Police: Two-Time CVS Robbery Suspect Caught On Camera FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Police Department is investigating two robberies, one that occurred June 24 and and another this past Sunday at a CVS Pharmacy in Fairfield.In both cases a white male entered the CVS at 1968 Black Rock Turnpike and went to the pharmacy counter threatening the pharmacy technician that if he does not comply with his request "People will be hurt," according to police.
