Accident Should Be A Reminder To Motorists, Ramapo Police Say
RAMAPO, N. Y. -- Ramapo police are reminding motorists not to drive around construction barricades after one car got stuck in a huge pothole in Ramapo Saturday, as previously reported by Daily Voice.No one was injured in the 6 a.m. accident, which happened after the motorist drove around construction barricades on Saddle River Road where a water company crew was repairing a water main break under the road.

Blood Drive Planned To Honor Slain Poughkeepsie Officer
POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y. -- A blood drive is planned for Monday, Feb. 22, to honor the memory of slain Poughkeepsie police Detective John Falcone, who was shot and killed in 2011 while trying to break up a domestic incident. The city of Poughkeepsie is partnering with American Red Cross for the blood drive, which is scheduled for 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22, at the Italian Center, 227 Mill St., Poughkeepsie. LARCHMONT, N. Y. -- Larchmont's Hommocks Middle School Roaring Robots team captured first place in a recent competition for its "Write Again" project, which focused on putting old pencils back into use.The team took top honors at the Feb. 6 Hudson Valley First Lego League Robotics Competition in LaGrangeville. Valhalla's National Jr. Honor Society Raises Money For Food Bank
VALHALLA, N. Y. -- Keeping with the annual tradition, students of Valhalla's National Junior Honor Society held a week-long bake sale in early February. National Junior Honor Society members took turns being stationed at the school's front entrance, selling treats to their classmates. Yorktown Teen Charged With DWI, Marijuana Possession
YORKTOWN, N. Y. -- An 18-year-old Yorktown man is facing driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession charges after Yorktown police stopped his car early Friday on Route 202 near Springhurst Street in Yorktown, police said.The man, whose name is withheld because of his eligibility as a youth offender, is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater, possession of marijuana and having an expired inspection decal, police said. Carmel Woman Faces Drug Charges Following Sheriff's Sting
CARMEL, N. Y. -- A 22-year-old Carmel woman is facing several drug charges after a two-month undercover investigation by Putnam County Sheriff's police into cocaine sales in Carmel and Southwest. Brittany Rubino, 22, of Weber Hill Road, was arrested Feb. 5 by the sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Unit. State Awards Stratford $200K To Help With Army Engine Plant Cleanup
STRATFORD, Conn. -- A $200,000 state grant will be used to help determine what needs to be done to prepare the Army Engine Plant site for redevelopment, according to the Stratford Star.Stratford Mayor John Harkins said the Point Stratford Renewal team is working on mixed-use waterfront development plans for the Army Engine Plant property, the Star said. The money is part of the state's Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Remediation Program. Wappinger Woman Charged With DWI After Route 9D Stop
WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- A 28-year-old Wappinger woman is facing a driving while intoxicated charge after New York State Police stopped her car because it was swerving in traffic on Route 9D in Wappinger, police said.Kiersten Barrett was issued traffic tickets requiring her to appear Thursday, March 3, in court in Wappinger, police said. Police arrested her Thursday after troopers stopped her car for failing to maintain her lane of travel, police said. Dutchess Woman Charged With Possessing Stolen Jewelry
MILLERTON, N. Y. -- A 28-year-old Millerton woman is facing a criminal charge after New York State Police said she took jewelry while visiting a home in Copake.Amanda C.
