Rosendale Police Warn Parents After Man Approaches Girl
ROSENDALE, N.Y. -- Kingston City School District officials are joining with Rosendale police to warn the community after a female student was approached by a stranger while walking home from school. Rosendale police said they are stepping up their presence as they investigate last week's incident. Police said the girl was walking on Grove Street in the Tillson area last Friday when a man approached her and said, "God bless you." Woman Charged With Assault, Endangering Wefare Of Child In Wallkill
WALLKILL, N.Y. -- A 39-year-old Middletown woman is facing child abuse charges after an investigation by members of the Orange County Child Abuse Unit showed she struck a child with a "dangerous instrument," state police said. Georjina Marquez is charged with felony second-degree assault and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, police said. She's being held in Orange County Jail on $7,500 bond, or $2,500 cash, police said. She was also ordered to stay away from the child and report back to Wallkill Town Court on March 22, police said. RED HOOK, N. Y. -- Apartment residents were able to escape a massive fire Tuesday that destroyed the Red Hook shopping plaza at Old Farm Road and Route 9 in Red Hook, according to multiple reports.Firefighters from several departments, including Red Hook, Rhinebeck and Ulster, helped battle the blaze that gutted the eight businesses at the shopping center, along with residential apartments. CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N. Y. -- A one-car accident Sunday on Route 9 in Croton was one of five calls handled in a little more than 24 hours by the Croton-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, officials said.In a Facebook post, firefighters detailed those five calls for service, including the accident in which the driver refused medical treatment.
