Social Activists To Speak At Ridgewood Woman's Club
RIDGEWOOD, N. J. -- The couple behind a foundation to bring education to girls in Africa plan to visit Ridgewood on Nov. 17 to talk about their work and their new book, "Find Me Unafraid: Love, Loss, and Hope in An African Slum."
Kennedy Odede and Jessica Posner Odede, who met in 2007 in Kibera, Kenya, will talk about their book and their work with their foundation Shining Hope For Communities, a nonprofit focused on bringing education to Africa.
It starts at 7:30 p.m. at The Woman's Club of Ridgewood, 215 W. Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood.

Actress Jane Alexander To Discuss Conservation At Wilton Library
WILTON, Conn. -- Actress Jane Alexander, known for her roles in "Kramer vs. Kramer," and "Cider House Rules," will pay a visit to the Wilton Library on Tuesday Nov. 15 to talk about her passion for nature and the environment.
In a talk co-sponsored by Woodcock Nature Center and the Wilton Library, Alexander will share stories of her travel captured in her new book, "Wild Things, Wild Places: Adventurous Tales of Wildlife and Conservation on Planet Earth."

Vincent Massaro, 78, Formerly Of Sleepy Hollow; Aide To Former Senator
SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Vincent G. Massaro, former Sleepy Hollow resident who served as an aide to U.S. Sen. Nicholas F. Brady and professor of finance at Long Island University, died Sunday in Arlington, Va. He was 78.
Born Dec. 26, 1937 in Buffalo, N.Y., to John and Sarah Massaro, Massaro obtained a bachelor of science degree in economics from Canisius College in 1959, and received his master's and doctorate degrees in economics from the University of Notre Dame.

More Than 75 Vendors Planned For Bergenfield Holiday Flea Market
BERGENFIELD, N. J. -- At least 75 merchants are planning to display their wares at the Bergenfield High School Holiday Flea Market and Gift Show on Sunday, Nov. 20, at the high school, 80 S. Prospect, Bergenfield.
A fundraiser for the high school's parents association, the event features handbags, sports collectibles, antiques and more available at bargain prices, organizers said. JC Promotions, a fundraising company that produces flea markets and street fairs throughout New Jersey, is coordinating the event.
