No Injuries After Fire Damages Bridgeport Wheelabrator Plant BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- A two-alarm fire Tuesday at the Wheelabrator trash-to-energy plant caused no injuries but left behind damage in one of the three boilers at the Bridgeport facility, the Connecticut Post reports. Two of the boilers are still working so the plant is up and running, officials told the Connecticut Post Wednesday. The plant generates power by taking in trash from more than 20 southern Connecticut towns, the Connecticut Post says. Yonkers Police Investigate Armed Robbery That Left One Injured YONKERS, N. Y. -- Yonkers police are investigating an armed robbery late Tuesday or early Wednesday in Yonkers that left one person with injuries, News 12 is reporting. No details were available on the injuries, and police told News 12 that they still aren't certain whether the weapon used in the robbery was a real gun or a pellet gun. Wallkill Officials Close Beauty Salon After Awning Collapse WALLKILL, N. Y. -- No one was injured when an awning at a Wallkill beauty salon collaped Monday afternoon while employees and customers were inside, according to Time Warner Cable News.Officials are investigating what caused the awning to collapse, and the beauty salon remains closed in the meantime, Time Warner Cable News reports. Yonkers Mayor Agrees To Landmark Status For Building Housing Mosque YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, who upheld the city's decision to declare landmark status for a mansion planned to be used as a mosque, said the designation means exterior alterations now have to be approved by the city, according to lohud.com. No One Injured In Poughkeepsie House Fire; Wiring Blamed POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A family was able to escape an early Monday morning house fire in the town of Poughkeepsie that is being blamed on faulty wiring in the basement, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Firefighters from three departments, including Arlington, responded to the 7 a.m. call for the fire, which was mostly contained in the basement at 13 Collette Drive, the Poughkeepsie Journal says. Peekskill Woman Charged With Felony DWI After Traffic Stop PEEKSKILL, N. Y. -- A 33-year-old Peekskill woman is facing an aggravated driving while intoxicated charge after New York State Police stopped her car Saturday and found her blood alcohol content at twice the legal limit, police said. Danbury Man Charged With Setting Bethel Home On Fire BETHEL, Conn. -- A Danbury man is facing felony arson and insurance fraud charges after Bethel police connected him to the intentional fire in 2014 that destroyed his Bethel home, according to the newstimes.com William Waller, 61, is being held on $200,000 bond for the first-degree arson and first-degree insurance fraud, which are both felony charges. He was arraigned in Superior Court in Danbury, the newstimes.com reports. The January 2014 fire left the 113-year-old Putnam Park Road house demolished, the newstimes.com says.
