Third Person Charged In Fake Check Scheme In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- A third person is facing charges in connection with a fake-check scam that set out to steal $62,000 from three Stamford banks, according to the Stamford Advocate.Owen McBean, 25, formerly of New Haven, is facing charges of second-degree larceny and attempted first-degree larceny, the Advocate said. He was held on $12,000 bond, and has an Oct. 29 court date, the Advocate. Police had previously arrested Chase bank teller Marya Lira, 22, of Stamford, and her boyfriend Alexis Vallejo, 24, of Bridgeport, in the scam, the Advocate reported.
