Body Recovered From Capital Region River Police are investigating after a body was found in a river in the region. The discovery was made Wednesday afternoon, July 12, in Rensselaer County, along the Hudson River in Troy. Police and fire crews recovered the body near the city’s Madison Pier, not far from the Green Island Bridge, Troy Police said. Authorities did not provide the person’s gender or speculate on how long they may have been in the water. Here's Percentage Of New Yorkers Worried About Becoming Crime Victims, New Poll Finds More than half of New Yorkers fear they may become a victim of a crime, a new Siena College poll finds. The poll, released Wednesday, July 12, found that 61 percent of state residents are either very (21 percent) or somewhat (40 percent) worried about becoming a crime victim. Researchers also found that 51 percent of New Yorkers have been worried about their safety, or their family’s safety, in public places. Seen Him? Capital Region Man Missing For Week Police are attempting to locate a man from the region who has been missing for a week. Columbia County resident Robert Coons, of the city of Hudson, was last seen at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, near Columbia and North 3rd streets. Helmet-Wearing Woman Strikes Again In New Robbery At Long Island Bank Police are investigating another bank robbery on Long Island involving a woman who fled on a motorcycle. The suspect walked into Patchogue’s Webster Bank on Sunrise Highway at just after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 13, according to Suffolk County Police. Chihuahua Pushed Down Stairs, Killed At Hands Of Long Island 21-Year-Old, Police Say A 21-year-old Long Island man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly killing a dog in his home. Peter Minichello, of West Islip, was arrested Wednesday, July 12, more than a year after the alleged incident occurred. According to Suffolk County Police, he was at his home on Edgewood Road on July 6, 2022, when he pushed the 5-year-old chihuahua mix down a flight of stairs. Driver Busted With 44 Pounds Of Marijuana During Capital Region Traffic Stop, Police Say A routine traffic stop in the region ended with a 29-year-old man facing a felony drug charge. Troopers in Albany County stopped Olandise Warren, of Albany, at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, as he drove I-787 in Albany. During their interaction, troopers reportedly discovered that he was carrying nearly 44 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
