Hundreds Participate In Wheelchair Games At Burke In White Plains WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Hundreds of athletes, volunteers and community members gathered Saturday at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital's White Plains campus for its 36th Annual Wheelchair Games.The all-day event gave those with physical impairments an opportunity to stay fit, enjoy sports and compete. Athletes from ages seven to 70 took part in field events such as javelin, shot put and discus and track events, including 60, 100, 400, 800 and 1,500-meter races. Valhalla Soccer Team Wins Academic Award MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Valhalla High School's boys varsity soccer team recently earned the 2014-15 NSCAA’s High School Team Academic Award. The 23 student-athletes who played on the 2014 soccer team were recognized not only for their skills on the field but also for their hard work in the classroom. Valhalla was one of 390 soccer teams nationwide (146 boys teams and 244 girls teams) that was awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s High School Team Academic Award. Stacia Kudlacik, 94, of Wallington WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Stacia Kudlacik of Wallington died on Sept. 1. She was 94.Kudlacik was born to Francis and Maryann (Puzio) Gurtowski, in Passaic, N.J. on May 24, 1921. She was the youngest of eight children and was the last surviving one. Her first husband, Anthony Stolarz, died in 1945. In July of 1949, she married Eugene Kudlacik. He also predeceased her. Kudlacik had worked at various companies throughout the years, but last worked at Gimbels Department Store in the housewares department, at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus. She was an accomplished cook and was well known for many …
