Kindergartners Get Their Own Book Club At Kent Public Library
KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- The Kent Public Library in Kent Lakes now has a book club especially for children in kindergarten, called Kinder Reads Book Club. The program will include fun crafts and activities centered around books that the club members read and discuss. The book club meetings will be held on the third Monday of the month. The November meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16, from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Registration is required. Click here to register. Seventh-Graders Practice Their Spanish Skills At Irvington
IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Seventh-graders at Irvington Middle School in Angela Druzic’s Spanish class demonstrated everything they’ve learned so far by having conversations with each other in Spanish.Students paired off to practice greeting each other and asking questions, such as what is your name, what is the weather like today and what day is it. They then gave presentations in front of their classmates, who also had to answer questions to show their understanding of the language. The activity was part of the seventh-grade review unit of “Greetings, Salutations and –AR Verbs.”

Kent Library Invites Cooks To Culinary Book Club
KENT LAKES, N.Y. -- Calling all of those who love to cook -- all cooks are welcome, no matter their age. The Kent Public Library is exploring the wonderful world of cookbooks this fall by holding The Book Club for Cooks.The book club will be held every third Wednesday of the month. SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Seventh-grade students at Valhalla Middle School were transported back to the Colonial Era on their recent visit to Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow.To further enrich their unit on Colonial America, the social studies classes visited the historic house and estate based in Sleepy Hollow.
