Faust School Band And Choir Visit East Rutherford Senior Center EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The members of the Afred S. Faust School Elective Band and Choir entertained the East Rutherford Senior Citizen’s group at its monthly meeting. This has become an annual event with 100 students participating under the direction of Jeff and Diann Schweikardt. The band performed “Feliz Navidad” and “Skyfall” as part of its selections. The chorus sang winter-themed melodies, featuring solos by Leianna Rodriguez and Zalma Chacon. The afternoon proved to be very entertaining, and a great time was had by the audience and all who performed.

Norwalk Closes Out Resident Firewood Program For The Season NORWALK, Conn. -- The City of Norwalk has concluded its second Resident Firewood Program for the season. After three sold-out sales this year, the city has sold 75 firewood vouchers, totaling 37.5 cords of wood and $5,625 in revenue. Along with sales revenue, the firewood program has taken 112 tons out of the waste stream, saving the city more than $9,200 in disposal fees. “The feedback that we have gotten from residents about the Firewood Program has been positive," said Ken Hughes, director of the Parks Department. Each Language Arts class from grades five through eight conducted a spelldown to determine a class champion who then went on to compete in the school-wide spelling bee on Jan. 8. Twenty-five students participated in the bee, which was observed by the entire student body, faculty and staff.
