Firefighters Visit Bedford Road School To Teach Safety PLEASANTVILLE, N. Y. -- Pleasantville volunteer firefighters visited students Oct. 6 at Bedford Road School to talk about fire safety as part of Fire Prevention Week.Students got a chance to tour fire safety vehicles and learn about fire safety. School officials said the students learned about staying safe in an emergency. Many of the firefighters are Pleasantville natives, including Pleasantville High School grads Chief Aimee Dieter and Assistant Chief Stephane Zapletal.

Sock Drive Planned For Meadowlands Networking Meeting EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce is planning a sock drive at the organization's next monthly networking meeting Oct. 15. Those who attend should bring new socks for men or women to the meeting, which is planned for 8-10 a.m. at Homewood Suites, 125 Route 17 South. Socks will be donated to the Bergen County Homeless Shelter. This is the first time the employee benefits and wellness committee is having a sock drive. The goal is to collect 500 pairs of socks. Ingeborg Helene Corigliano, 80, Of Croton-on-Hudson CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N. Y. -- Ingeborg Helene Corigliano, a longtime Croton-on-Hudson resident, died Saturday, Oct. 3. She was 80. Ingeborg was born to Richard and Helene Meissner on July 6, 1935 in Nuremburg, Germany. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1957 where she met her husband, Douw Edward Corigliano, and the two were married for 42 years. Ingeborg became a U.S. citizen in 1976.  She was an active member of Holy Name of Mary Church for the last 50 years. She's worked as a tax accountant for Weissner & Blick, CPA and H.
