Fairfield Kids Get Up Close With Big Rigs At Event For Barnum Festival FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Bridgeport's beloved Barnum Festival held one of its newest events Saturday, as Touch-a-Truck made its debut at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. The event featured nearly 60 vehicles — including ambulances, the police department's Mobile Command Center, construction vehicles, motorcycles, fire trucks and big rigs. Catalino, in his 13th year at Somers, attended high school in Angola, N.Y., where he played soccer, basketball and baseball. The Mahopac resident went on to attend St. Bonaventure College, where he competed in JV basketball and baseball. Prior to coming to Somers, Catalino spent 10 years teaching and coaching at Rye Neck High School, where he also served as athletic director.

The day belonged to Bobcat righty Frankie Vesuvio, who tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout to earn a 4-0 victory for his team, which improved to 11-6. John Spadafino gave Vesuvio all the support he needed with a two-run homer, but Kevin Wietsma added a two-RBI single for insurance. Rye fell to 11-6 with the loss. Kids Rock The Rides At Spring Carnival At Fairfield's Riverfield School FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Crowds of students turned out as the Riverfield Elementary School PTA hosted its spring carnival and fundraiser on Friday and Saturday. The fundraiser was held behind the school at 1625 Mill Plain Road. The fun included rides for children of all ages provided by the Rainbow Amusement Company, along with food by Carl Anthony’s Pizza, The Buzz Truck, Snappy Dawgs, and Paula’s Ice Cream. The carnival supports children’s programs, educational field trips and author visits.
