Rockland Rallies To Battle Cystic Fibrosis At Great Strides Walk BARDONIA, N.Y. - A crowd estimated at around 325 people came out to Albertus Magnus High School on a rainy Sunday morning for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's 7th annual Rockland/Orange County Great Strides 3K Walk. The walk (1.86 miles around the Albertus Magnus High School track) raised approximately 60,000.00 dollars for the CFF at last year's event. Huge strides have been made in the fight against CF, and funds go towards improving the life of CF patients, which now include more adults than ever, according to organizers.

Crowds Come Out In Rain To Run, Walk At North Rockland Community Day 5K HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. - A nice crowd turned out at Haverstraw's Bowline Point Park on a warm, rainy Sunday morning to participate in North Rockland Community Day's 13th annual 5K Run/Walk. Runners navigated a circular course that toured the scenic park, and included a stretch that ran right along the riverfront just prior to reaching the finish line. Fifteen-year-old Patrick Tuohy, from North Rockland High, won the men's race, touring the 3.1-mile course in 16:24. Ryan Guzinski, 17, also from North Rockland High, was second at 16:34. Dutchess Residents Of All Ages Come Out To Play At Beekman Golf Course HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. - The Beekman Golf Course in Hopewell Junction has been one of the top destinations for area golf enthusiasts for years. The facility offers some unique features: the layout includes three nine-hole courses, plus an 18-hole foot golf (played with a soccer ball) course, a striker course (a shorter foot golf course for younger kids), as well as child and adult foot golf leagues. Putnam Remembers War Heroes On Memorial Day MAHOPAC, N.Y. - Putnam County remembered those who gave their lives in military service Monday on Memorial Day, with a parade and a ceremony in Mahopac. The Mahopac VFW Post 5491 and American Legion Post 1080 parade started at Clarke Place and proceeded to Veteran's Memorial Park behind the Mahopac Library.
