Lake Carmel Celebrates July 4 With Live Music, Fireworks Display LAKE CARMEL, N.Y. -- Lake Carmel held its annual fireworks display Friday night, and as usual, people came from near and far to see the spectacle, and hear live music at Arts on the Lake. Residents packed the closed-off Route 311 causeway to view the show, which originated from the lake's private beach area. Beach 5 was a prime viewing spot, as was Beach 6, and the display could be seen from around the lake as well. Arts on the Lake hosted live music to add to the celebration, prior to the fireworks. Hosting the program was Polly Sparling, a runner for about 17 years, with six marathon finishes under her belt. The Learn to Run program is based on the book Run Your Butt Off!, published by the editors of Runner's World magazine. First Responders Honored As Bridgeport's Barnum Festival Parade Steps Off BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The City of Bridgeport capped off the monthlong Barnum Festival with Sunday's 67th Great Street Parade. This year's parade honoring first responders - police, fire departments, EMS, public works and line crew members, and veterans. Yorktown Celebrates Class Of 2015 With Graduation At SUNY Purchase YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown High School held its 2015 commencement ceremony Saturday afternoon at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Theater. The Yorktown High School band play the Star-Spangled Banner, and school Principal Joseph DeGennaro addressed the crowd. Adarsh Subramani was the class of 2015 Salutatorian, and Ryan Cohen was this year's Valedictorian. DeGennaro, along with school Superintendent Dr. Ralph Napolitano and Board President Jackie Carbone, presented 281 graduating seniors with diplomas.

Cross County Shopping Center Hosts Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival YONKERS, N.Y. -- Cross County Shopping Center hosted its third annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival, and a day of fun family activities, Saturday. The theme of the chalk art competition was "Chillin' and Grillin,' " sponsored by Applebee's. Several artists drew intricate pieces on the sidewalk under tents, as a light rain fell. There was also face painting, spin art, sand art, mini golf putting, music, and refreshments.
