Fairfield Museum's Gala Benefit Takes On An Artisan Theme
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Museum and History Center will be hosting its fall Gala Benefit, An Artisan Evening, on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. The event will mark the opening of the Museum’s newest exhibit, "Handcrafted: Artisans Past & Present" and will feature cocktails and artisanal cuisine by Susan Kane Catering, demonstrations by exhibiting artisans, entertainment from “Bob & Dave,” handcrafted vodka by Tito’s and small-batch chocolates from Fascia. Byram Hills Hosts Back To School Night For Ninth-Graders
ARMONK, N.Y. -- Back to School Night (N-Z) will be held at Byram Hills High School in Armonk on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m.The evening will begin in the cafeteria where parents will get their child's schedule, visit the PTSA table, view and order school apparel, and enjoy refreshments. The refreshments are donated by parents and are greatly appreciated by all, including the teachers and student volunteers. Hindu Service Society Visits Ossining Police
OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Police Department received a visit from the Hindu Service Society on Saturday. The society asked the department to join it for a celebration of their traditional holiday known as Raksha Bandhan. As part of their tradition, the children tie a string bracelet around the wrist of the protector of the community as a sign of respect and to build a sense of community. Leaders Tackle Substance Abuse Issues In Philipstown
PHILIPSTOWN, N.Y. -- On Wednesday, Sept. 16, 35 key leaders attended a breakfast meeting sponsored by the Putnam CTC and Philipstown CTC coalitions at the North Highland Fire House.The goal of the event was to assist the coalition in a community assessment. The leaders were from different sectors of the community. Celebrate National Public Lands Day By Volunteering At Weir Farm
WILTON, Conn. -- In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton will host a volunteer invasive plant pull followed by old-fashioned apple cider making on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will assist National Park Service staff in habitat restoration, removing invasive plants such as garlic mustard and Japanese barberry from the woodlands in the morning. RIVER VALE, N.J. -- The 8th Annual Imus Golf Outing will take place Thursday at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale.The Imus Ranch Foundation is donating all proceeds from this event to benefit the Tackle Kids Cancer campaign through the HackensackUMC Foundation. In addition to the proceeds from this event, the Imus Ranch Foundation will donate an additional $250,000 to the campaign.
