Woman Dumps Dog At Sussex County Animal Shelter: 'Sorry, His Name Is Roscoe'
Police are investigating after a woman abandoned a black hound mix in need of urgent medical care at a Sussex County animal shelter on Thursday, Dec. 26, officials said.
At approximately 10:55 a.m., the woman, described as having black hair and wearing a green Jets hoodie and mask, entered the shelter and threw the dog’s leash at a staff member. She fled the scene, shouting, “Sorry, his name is Roscoe.”

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania as freezing rain is expected to create icy road conditions Friday night, Dec. 27 into Saturday morning, Dec. 28, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Friday to Saturday. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are anticipated in Sussex, Warren, and Morris counties, in NJ, and Lehigh and Northampton counties, in PA.

ShopRite Shoplifters Arrested In Separate Lyndhurst Incidents, Police Say
Two Bergen County residents were arrested in separate shoplifting incidents at a local ShopRite, police said.
The first incident at the ShopRite store in Lyndhurst occurred on Wednesday, Dec.18, around 4 p.m., when Frank Giuffrida, 49, was seen by store loss prevention staff placing multiple items from his shopping cart into his backpack, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. He then headed to the self-checkout register, where he failed to scan several items before leaving the store, police said.
