Navy Veteran Rocco Cingari Of Stamford, CEO Of Company That Owns 11 ShopRite Stores In CT, Dies
President and CEO of Grade A Market Inc., which owns 11 ShopRite stores in Connecticut, Rocco "Rocky" Salvatore Cingari, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Monday, June 3 at age 89.
After serving in the U.S. Navy Cingari spent the next 67 years, first as vice president of Grade A ShopRite Supermarkets, and in the early '80s, rising to become president and CEO, a position he has held to date.
He also served on the board of directors of Wakefern Food Corp.
Cingari was born Aug. 14, 1929, son of the late Salvatore and Rosa D'Allura Cingari.

A Long Island native followed up a career as an actuary by earning a masters in counseling and becoming a Catholic deacon in Connecticut has died.
Deacon Ronald L. Biamonte, 72, of Windsor, formerly of Valley Stream died Wednesday, May 29 at his home.
Born in Far Rockaway on Feb. 23, 1947, son of the late Albert and Mary (Ciampi) Biamonte, he was raised in Valley Stream and attended Holy Name of Mary School and was a graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 1965.

A retired priest who served as a pastor and college faculty member on Long Island and was a prolific sculptor has died.
The Rev. Harold Erwin Buckley died Saturday, May 11. He was 94.
Buckley was born in Brooklyn on March 31, 1925, to a mother, Elizabeth, and a father, Jeremiah, both immigrants from County Kerry, Ireland. He was the middle child in a family of five, his sister Elizabeth and brothers Jeremiah, Eugene, and Robert.

A former Nassau County Police Department detective has died.
Retired Detective Lt. Robert L. Cuerbo, of Old Chatham, formerly of Long Beach, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1 at a hunting lodge. He was 69.
Cuerbo served 38 years in the Nassau County Police Department, as well as 11 years to the Tri-Village Fire Department in Columbia County, in his retirement. He leaves behind his wife Mary T. Cuerbo, mother Madeline Cuerbo, sister Joanne Caggiano, and children Erica Cuerbo, Alex Cuerbo, and Amanda Cuerbo, as well as his grandson Francescantonio Barone.
