Christopher Castaldo, Popular Bartender At Beacon Hotel, Upscale NYC Restaurants, Dies At 52
A popular bartender at the Beacon Hotel and upscale New York City restaurants, Christopher Castaldo died Thursday, Aug. 1 at his home, at age 52.
He was born July 12, 1967, in Beacon, son of John K. and the late Margaret (Peggy) Cataldo.
Castaldo graduated from Beacon High School, attended Dutchess Community College and then relocated to Manhattan to work as a bartender in upscale restaurants such as Match Uptown and L'Artisanal.

Oceanside Teen Nabbed After Punching Victim, Stealing Bicycle, Police Say
A teen allegedly punched someone then stole a bike in Oceanside, said Nassau County Police.
According to Nassau County Police detectives at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, Anthony Frangos, 18, got in a verbal argument with a victim near Merle Avenue and Oceanside Road.
Frangos allegedly punched the victim several times and took his bicycle, fleeing southbound on Long Beach Road, police said.
Police were able to catch Frangos and arrested him.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.

A Commack resident whose career includes director of nursing at a Long Island hospital has died.
Karen S. Dudek died Tuesday, Aug. 6, at her home in Commack, at age 63.
After 36 years as a nurse and later as director of nursing at the Nassau County Medical Center, she retired and worked for several hospital associations in New York City as director of nursing.
Dudek was predeceased by her parents, Regina B. Smith and Robert A. Smith, and her sister, Regina S. Muzyka.

Man Indicted For Murder After Fatal Shooting During Old Bethpage Park Robbery
A man was indicted for murder in a July 6 fatal shooting during a robbery in an Old Bethpage park.
Brandon Torres, 22, of Staten Island was arraigned Friday, Aug. 2 and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree robbery, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.
Torres was remanded and is due back in court on Friday, Sept. 6. If convicted of the top count, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
