Like Eating Out? Try 'A Taste Of North Rockland' One-Stop Eating Event
WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- How many restaurants have you been to in North Rockland? A one-stop tasting event will highlight many of the area's establishment Monday, Sept. 19 at West Haverstraw Village Hall.
A Taste of North Rockland is a fundraiser, co-sponsored by the North Rockland Lions Club and North Rockland Rotary Club. It's main event is a fare sampling, and a portion of the proceeds will help out local food pantries.

Three Algonquin Pipeline Protesters Rescued From Hudson
VERPLANCK, N.Y. -- The Westchester County Police Marine Unit helped pull three protesters from the Hudson River during an Algonquin Pipeline project demonstration Saturday afternoon, according to lohud.com.The protest included three people at Ninth Street and Broadway, and nine in the water, three in kayaks and three in a canoe that turned over, a police spokesman told lohud.com.
At first, not wanting a rescue, the men tried to swim ashore, then got tired and were thrown lifelines by the rescuers, police told lohud.com.

Free Music At Porchfest In Rhinebeck Draws Hundreds
RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- An event called Porchfest drew hundreds to Rhinebeck on Saturday for free music, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.Guitarist John Platania, who plays for Van Morrison, performed on a stage set up on the lawn of a house in Rhinebeck, which he regards as his "home," the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
The event's stages are porches at people's homes, said the Poughkeepsie Journal report.
“It’s fantastic to bring the community together,” the guitarist reportedly said, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
