Help Shape 'Complete Streets' Plan In Stratford Public Session STRATFORD, Conn. -- A public information session on Wednesday, Dec. 14 will look at the Stratford Complete Streets Plan. The session will be an opportunity for residents to provide feedback on several design recommendations that have been developed over the past six months and help shape the future of the downtown. The plan's aim is to improve the connectivity, accessibility and safety of Stratford streets. The public session will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Stratford Town Hall, 2725 Main St., Stratford.

Peekskill High Schooler Honored At Boces As 'Student Of Distinction' PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A senior at Peekskill High School who her teachers describe as "hard-working" and "dedicated" has been recognized for these attributes. She is Autumn Jacobs, a BOCES Student of Distinction. The recognition came at a Peekskill Board of Education meeting. Jacobs is a second year student in the Culinary Program at BOCES Tech Center and said the program has greatly helped shape her future. “I’ve always wanted to work in culinary since I was little, so I started with the BOCES classes just to see if I would like it as a career as an adult,” Jacobs said. …

Briarcliff Workshop Helps Women Become Educational Leaders BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Women in education are underrepresented in leadership positions nationally, according to a leadership conference held earlier this month in Briarcliff Manor. Fortune 500 companies have just 4.6 percent of women CEOs. And while the statistics are more robust, with 27 percent of leadership positions in education being held by women, women comprise 76 percent of classroom teachers. Help Provide Heat For Peekskill Nuns PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Nuns in Peekskill need help heating their convent this winter. A crowdfunding page called "Heat for the Sisters" has garnered almost $124,000 for the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Peekskill. The goal is to raise $350,000 for the 15-year-old convent, which has nonworking boilers and a chapel in need of heating repairs. Orangetown Students Take In Diplomacy At United Nations ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Orangetown students visited the United Nations recently. Prior to the U.N. trip, students in an Italian IV class addressed such world issues as hunger, the refugee crisis and child labor in class. The unit compared and contrasted the Italian and American governments, and looked at the interaction of world governments, as they work to resolve global issues. The U.N. tour addressed these world issues, as well as others, such as land mines, highlighting the body's efforts and programs to reduce and eventually eradicate these problems. Red Hook Man Charged After Fight At Liberty Tavern In Rhinebeck RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- A Red Hook man faces assault charges for his role in a Nov. 24 incident at the Liberty Tavern in Rhinebeck, according to police. Andrew Dyal, 22, was charged with third-degree assault, after police were notified by an alleged victim of a fight, a day after it took place, said Rhinebeck Police Department Sgt. Peter Dunn. Breakfast With Santa Boosts Glen Rock Dog Park GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- A breakfast with Santa is taking place Saturday in Glen Rock.
