Shalane Flanagan Is 1st American Woman To Win New York Marathon In 40 Years Shalane Flanagan pulled away from her competitors with a mile to go to win the New York City Marathon on Sunday, becoming the first American to win the women's event in 40 years. Flanagan's unofficial time was 2 hours, 26 minutes, 53 seconds on the 26.2-mile course through all five boroughs. Update: One Dead After Rollover Crash On Merritt; 3 Ejected From Car UPDATED: STRATFORD, Conn. — A man from Bridgeport was killed and two others were seriously injured after they were ejected from their car in a rollover crash overnight on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post. The crash, which occurred on the southbound side of the Merritt between Exits 53 and 52, closed the parkway for eight hours, the Post said. Jordan Soares, 27, of Bridgeport, who was a passenger in the car, was killed, the Post said. Greenwich Blogger Calls For Boycott Of Women Petition Candidates For RTM GREENWICH, Conn. — Christopher Fountain, a Realtor who has written a blog about Greenwich for over a decade, is urging residents to not vote for the women who are petition candidates in the race for the town's Representative Town Meeting.
