(Update) Police ID Man Who Drowned While Fishing In Haverhill River The body of a missing canoer who was pulled from the Merrimack River this weekend has been identified, according to authorities. Michael Ventura, of Apple Street in Haverhill, was fishing in the Merrimack River about 75 feet from the shore of 44 Margin Street on Sunday, June 24, the Essex County District Attorney said. Witnesses said he fell into the water and never surfaced. Trooper In Serious Condition After Car Crashed Into Him In Milton A Massachusetts State Trooper surveying a wreck in Milton early Sunday morning, June 25, was hit by a car on Route 93, authorities said.  The trooper was standing outside his vehicle between exits 3 and 4 around 3:15 a.m. when he was struck, state police said. Missing Canoer, 20, Found Dead In Western Mass Pond After Days Of Searching After a nearly five-day search, the body of a 20-year-old canoer who went overboard in Westfield's Pequot Pond was found on Sunday, June 25.  The East Longmeadow man was on the pond with two friends on Wednesday night, June 22, when it capsized, tossing them all into the water. Man Shot, Killed In Holyoke Near Police Department A man was shot and killed in Holyoke Friday morning, June 23, and police have launched an investigation to find the shooter.  Holyoke police were called to Appleton Street just before 9:30 a.m., suffering a gunshot wound. He died at the scene soon after, authorities said.  Investigators have not released the man's name.  Police have released scant details about the shooting so far.  Holyoke detectives and the Hampden District Attorney's Office is investigating.  Officers ask anyone with information on the shooting to call 413-322-6900.

5 Men Thought They Were Meeting Women At Hotel, But Left In Cuffs Worcester police busted five men on Thursday, June 23, in an undercover prostitution sting at multiple Worcester hotels.  Officers posing as prostitutes online and arraigned to meet the men for sex in exchange for cash, Worcester police said. That money will now likely go to bail.  Worcester police said the purpose of the sting was to deter internet-based human trafficking.
