(Update) Police ID Man Who Drowned While Fishing In Haverhill River The body of a missing canoer who was pulled from the Merrimack River this weekend has been identified, according to authorities. Michael Ventura, of Apple Street in Haverhill, was fishing in the Merrimack River about 75 feet from the shore of 44 Margin Street on Sunday, June 24, the Essex County District Attorney said. Man Shot, Killed In Holyoke Near Police Department A man was shot and killed in Holyoke Friday morning, June 23, and police have launched an investigation to find the shooter.  Holyoke police were called to Appleton Street just before 9:30 a.m., suffering a gunshot wound.
