Officials Question Cashless Tolls As NY State Thruway Losses Mount The New York State Thruway's toll system at Exit 17 in Newburgh made the list of problem areas in the agency's increase in uncollected tolls over the last five years, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.The problem is leading some officials to question the move to a cashless system that some fear with bring about even more loss to the 570-mile thruway system.
