Resident Purposely Sets Fire To Capital Region Home Near Cemetery, Police Say A 66-year-old man is accused of intentionally setting fire to his home in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, for a house fire in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, on 3rd Avenue near 106th Street. The home backs up to the Old Catholic Cemetery. Tobacco-Related Cancers Down In NY, New Report Finds Fewer New Yorkers are being diagnosed with tobacco-related cancers. A new report released by the state health department Thursday, Sept. 14, found that several of the cancers most often associated with smoking declined throughout the state between 2016 and 2020. The westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway are scheduled to close overnight between Exit 45 in Smithtown and Exit 42 in Huntington for three weeks, beginning Monday, Sept. 25.
