Thousands Turn Out For Norwalk's Walk To End Alzheimer's Disease NORWALK, Conn. — The annual fundraising Walk to End Alzheimer's disease stepped off Sunday morning at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, with more than 2,000 participants coming from Fairfield County and beyond. Rare Supermoon Visible Over Wyckoff-Franklin Lakes Skies Sunday Sky watchers from the area as well as from all of North and South America to western Europe enjoyed a rare astronomical event Sunday night, in which the moon appeared to redden in the sky - a so-called blood moon. The supermoon, the first in 33 years, occurred when the Earth's satellite reaches the point in its orbit when it is closest to the planet and was coupled with a lunar eclipse, with the moon passing behind the Earth's shadow. Weston Historical Society Travels To The Past For Civil War Re-Enactment WESTON, Conn. - The Weston Historical Society's exhibit "Remembering the Civil War" made its public debut Saturday as part of the group's month-long celebration to mark the anniversary of the war's end. The exhibit Saturday featured a live encampment of Company F of the CT 14th Regiment. Reenactors dressed in period clothing displayed textiles and tools of the era, including those used by doctors and soldiers. The exhibit runs through Oct. 25. Kids Find Adventure, Accomplishment At Stamford's Spartan Races STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford's Mill River Park hosted the Spartan Kids Race on Saturday, with hundreds of families coming out to experience the "world's best obstacle course." The race featured 2K and 4K heats and over 15 obstacles. It's all designed to build a sense of adventure, camaraderie, and a sense of accomplishment for children ages 5 to 13.
